Thai Asia Pacific Brewery Co., Ltd. (TAP) unveils its commitment to a sustainable approach that encapsulates the company's mission, “TAP Road to Net Zero”. The mission aims to drive the company towards becoming a Carbon Neutral Organization by 2030, ultimately achieving the end goal of attaining Net Zero Emissions by 2040. At the opening ceremony on 18th August 2023, TAP officially launched its pilot project, “Yellow Pridiyathorn Garden,” to expand green spaces within the brewery and local community area in Nonthaburi province, setting the groundwork to enhance carbon sequestration in the long term. Currently, “Yellow Pridiyathorn Project” aims to plant approximately 5,000 trees in Nonthaburi province within 2023, reducing carbon to around 45-75 tco2 per year. The project will be part of the carbon credit registration and the expansion of green spaces to nearby communities in alignment with Nonthaburi's environmental policy, also known as a part of the “Nonthaburi 6D, Livable City” concept.

Nowadays, climate change is occurring more frequently due to the continuous increase in greenhouse gas emissions year by year. Hence, air pollution and its environmental impacts are becoming common issues for every country, including Thailand. TAP is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emission, following its ambition to improve the quality of life for Nonthaburi's population. Starting with the implementation of green spaces to enhance carbon sequestration through afforestation activity in the brewery area, TAP will continue to approach nearby communities around Nonthaburi province to expand more green spaces in the coming months. For local implementation, TAP plans to drive thought-provoking activities on sustainability for the Nonthaburi community.

Furthermore, the tree planting activities will expand to nearby communities in Nonthaburi province as part of the upcoming action plan. In September 2023, TAP is set to kick-start its environmental project, which will encompass a tree-planting program in schools and local hospitals, where the program will be measured and evaluated in order to analyse the project’s outcome in preparation for the next steps.

“Yellow Pridiyathorn Garden” project and "Yellow Pridiyathorn” are both named after M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, who is well-known as the former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, the 17th Governor of the Bank of Thailand, and the Vice Chairman of Thai Asia Pacific Brewery.

TAP Road to Net Zero” Mission

“TAP Road to Net Zero” marks the beginning of the company's goal of becoming a Carbon Neutral Organization by 2030. The mission is fully integrated with the environmental strategy on the 4Rs (Reduce, Replace, Remove and Report), which is in line with TAP's commitment to conduct business with responsibilities toward society and the environment under the sustainability mission called “Brew a Better World”, a main focus area that aligned with HEINEKEN'S® global sustainability strategy, that keeps continuing for 28 years. “Yellow Pridiyathorn Garden” project serves as a pilot project under “TAP Road to Net Zero” to expand green spaces in the brewery and local community area. In April 2023, TAP also initiated an afforestation project in the brewery area, covering an expanse of 10 rai, and planting around 2,000 trees. Furthermore, TAP has prepared to submit its carbon credit registration to the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER) by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to enhance biodiversity in green spaces.

Apart from launching “Yellow Pridiyathorn Garden” project as part of the carbon credit system, TAP aims to expand more green spaces around Ratniyom and Sai Yai subdistricts by the end of the year, with plans to expand to other areas in Nonthaburi Province as well.

TAP is taking a significant stride with the launch of “Yellow Pridiyathorn Garden” project, which will play a crucial role in expanding green spaces in Nonthaburi province. This milestone is attributed to its partnership with public and government sectors, as well as the people in the community. The collaboration among stakeholders will strengthen the goal to reduce carbon emissions in the provincial area with the end goal of driving Thailand towards achieving Net Zero Emissions in the near future.
